We’re wedded planners.
THE
ENGAGEMENT
EFFECT
There’s something about getting engaged that makes people want to level up. Maybe it starts with the wedding. You finally book the Pilates class, sort out your skincare, get serious about sleep, clear out the wardrobe, or decide this is the year you’re actually going to get on top of your finances. Suddenly there’s a date in the diary and a version of yourself you’re moving towards. Psychologists have a name for some of this. The fresh start effect describes the extra motivation we can feel around moments that mark a new beginning, and getting married is a fairly significant one.
We think the wedding glow-up can go a little deeper. The months ahead are likely to ask a lot of you, and not all of it will be particularly photogenic. There will be decisions to make, money to manage, families and expectations to navigate, boundaries to set, a frankly unreasonable amount of admin, and all the ordinary demands of life carrying on in the background while you do it. This is a rare moment when you’re already thinking seriously about the future and have more motivation than usual to do something about it. We think that momentum is worth using.
The goal isn’t to become different people by the time you get married. It’s to come out the other side still feeling like yourselves, just a little better equipped for the life you’re building together.
Not because you need to emerge from your engagement as optimized versions of yourselves, or have married life figured out before you’ve even made it down the aisle. Quite the opposite. We want to help you build the skills, habits and support that make the busy seasons ahead easier to navigate, so you can handle difficult conversations with a little more confidence, meet the inevitable adulting with a little more resilience, and look after yourselves and each other when life gets complicated.
